Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Installation Is Failing

• Sash won’t stay raised or drifts closed. The coil balance or block-and-tackle system has lost tension. In Doral’s salt air, the metal components corrode faster than inland specs account for; we see this at roughly 8-12 years on coastal-exposed units.
• Visible gap between sash and frame when closed. The weatherstrip has compressed or the sash cam lock has worn. The lock itself is replaceable, but if the keeper has wallowed out the frame, the repair scope widens.
• Condensation between glass panes. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed. Mr-Glass IGUs are replaceable without full frame removal if the glazing bead profile is still available.
• Frame corner separation or sill bowing. Thermal expansion and the weight of accumulated Doral rainfall stress the sill joint. This is structural; the window is no longer performing as rated.
• Difficulty locking or unlocking. The multipoint lock mechanism has debris intrusion or the keepers have shifted. Often misdiagnosed as hardware failure when it’s actually frame settlement.

You can safely check: whether the lock engages fully, whether debris is visible in the track, and whether the weatherstrip is physically present and pliable. Do not attempt to remove an impact-rated sash or IGU yourself. The glazing beads on MG-Impact units are under compression, and the glass is heavy laminated construction. A dropped sash can damage the frame, and improper reglazing voids the impact rating.
